Viburnum Plicatum Mariesii is a low growing shrub which is deciduous ie it loses its leaves over the winter months. It grows in tiers or layers and the leaves are a delicate shape in bright green and in the early summer May - July an abundance of white flowers appear in on layer of the shrub. It is fairly wide spreading up to 1.5m in width and can grow to 2m in height but very slowly.
This is a shrub often used by exhibitors at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May because it is in flower usually at that time and is always popular with the visitors.
This plant has become a bestseller of our over the last couple of years for early Summer flowering interest. It is also known as the Japanese Snowball Bush and is therefore often used with our Japanese plants such as nandina domestica and cryptomeria japonica.
Other plants which would work well with the Viburnum Mariesii are the Pittosporum Tobira Nana Tree and Viburnum Tinus Trevor Eve.
Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society, a sure sign that it will perform well in most gardens
