Rhododendron Marcel Meynard, or to give it its full botanical name, Rhododendron Monsieur Marcel Méynard is a showy evergreen cultivar that belongs to the family of larger Elepidote Hybrids. Larger Elepidote hybrids are what we would normally think of as typical rhododendrons: they are characterised by their medium to large size and spectacular flowers borne on large trusses.

Rhododendron Marcel Menard boasts masses of deep purple-violet blossoms with greenish speckles at the throat. Flowers are produced in trusses up to 15. This variety is a late flowerer, so you can expect the beautiful blossoms to appear on the shrub around May or June, depending on the climate. The small, dark green leaves will provide a perfect backdrop for the profusion of showy flowers.

As a testament to its great qualities and optimal performance in the United Kingdom, Rhododendron Marcel Menard won the prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM) by the Royal Horticultural Society.
