Our Cherry Laurel Hedging Frame is a vigorous evergreen cherry laurel (prunus laurocerasus) grown on a bamboo frame to create instant evergreen cover. It’s an excellent instant privacy screen or a windbreak hedge that’s attractive to wildlife and greens up a bare space.
Cherry laurel is native to southeastern Europe and southwest Asia. It’s a tough evergreen shrub and a very popular hedging option in the UK. It’s a strong grower with large dark green shiny leaves that can reach up to 15 cm in length. In spring, erect white flower racemes emerge and mature to glossy red berries that eventually turn black in winter.
This versatile cherry laurel screen is an instant year-round screening option for all styles of gardens from country cottages to modern urban courtyards.

These plants are trained on a 2M tall screen by 1.2M wide.
How Hardy Is Cherry Laurel Hedging Frame
Cherry laurel is hardy enough to withstand minus temperatures in exposed spots if its roots are well drained. It can cope with drought once it’s established and it’s rarely bothered by pests.
How To Use a Cherry Laurel Hedging Frame
Our cherry laurel screen is specifically grown to create a number of convenient instant screening options. It’s excellent at protecting balconies from cold winds, sheltering tender plants, covering an ugly fence with attractive greenery, and raising up the fence line height.
Cherry laurel is dense enough to provide warm sheltered spots and pollinators love its white springtime flowers, so it’s a great way to support the environment too.
How To Care For Cherry Laurel Hedging Frame
Cherry laurel is very easy to care for. It’s hardy enough to cope with exposed areas and cold winds if its roots aren’t waterlogged. It will thrive in reasonably fertile soil with full sun or partial shade.
The bamboo frame creates a handy pruning outline to trim back the stems to if you prefer a neat and tidy screen, or you can leave it to bush out with the frame in place. There’s no need to remove the bamboo frame as it grows.
Mulch the roots with well-rotted organic matter each spring and give it plenty of water until you see new growth.
