Photinia Red Robin Shrub trained to grow on frames.
A living screening plant, these Photinia Red Robin on frames offer immediate privacy by creating the perfect privacy screen.
These Photinia red robin plants have been grown against a bamboo frame, rather like climbing plants. In this way, they take up very little lateral space and thus can be used as an instant screen. Available in sizes from 1 metre tall to well over 2 metres, you can imagine how they offer instant privacy.
This is an unusual treatment of these popular evergreen shrubs. Photinia lend themselves easily to this type of training. These Photinias on a Frame take up little lateral room and are a living screen - perfect as an evergreen screen against a fence or wall, especially in smaller town gardens where space is at a premium.
Photinias are one of our bestselling plants be it for regular hedging plants or as large screening trees. It's easy to see why - Photinia has many merits and high ornamental value. They look stunning all year round and they are easy to maintain. Photinia produces evergreen glossy leaves, profuse flowers and the new growth foliage is a beautiful red in the early spring. As the season progresses from summer to autumn, the foliage takes on a burgundy hue.
Photinia Red Robin is relatively fast growing (around 30 cm per year) and once established, will quickly form a dense colourful screen, affording privacy as well as shelter for wildlife. In summer, it produces small white flowers.
Photinia is hardy and relatively easy to grow and reacts well to being clipped, an important characteristic for privacy plants. A Photinia Red Robin screen will thrive in a sunny or partially shaded aspect. As these shrubs are salt tolerant, they are also a good choice for coastal areas.
With its blazing red new foliage in spring and summer and rich, glossy leaves, Photinia Red Robin is a superb choice of evergreen screening that provides interest in the garden or terrace all year round.
