Azalea Glowing Embers
A wonderful rich vivid orange flower colour in May and June make this Knap Hill Azalea a real favourite in the garden. Knap Hill azaleas were developed by the famous nurseryman Anthony Waterer at his Knap Hill Nursery in Surrey from the 1850’s. The Knap Hill Azaleas and the related Exbury Azaleas are among the most flamboyant of the Azaleas Hybrid groups, having the largest number of cultivars. They are distinguished by their extraordinary large flowers, some of them 10 cm across and the vivid colours, of which there are many indeed, including Glowing Embers.
Deciduous in the winter Knap hill azaleas will produce lovely mid green foliage in the spring and produce amazing autumn colour. Azalea Glowing Embers displays wonderful rich red hue in the autumn.
Azaleas like acidic soil. They do not like heavy clay soil, therefore, it is advisable to incorporate as much leaf mould and ericaceous compost as you can to the planting hole and try to plant them high in your borders so they are not stuck in heavy wet soil.
Azalea Glowing Embers is a medium-sized Azalea and should grow to a maximum of 2 metres tall by 2 metres wide.
