Magnolia x Loebneri Merrill also referred to as just Merrill is an erect, narrow compact tree. It is a versatile Magnolia with the capacity for being grown as a multi-stemmed shrub shape or as a single stem which gives more of a tree shape. In Springtime it rewards with a profuse showing of beautiful pure white star shaped flowers with a yellow centre. These appear on bare stems followed by the emergence of its mid green leaves.
This beautiful specimen Magnolia looks stunning in small or larger gardens, it has average growth rate and when mature can reach up to 5-7m high and 4-6m wide. Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit - a sure sign it will do well in most gardens in the UK.
As with all Magnolias - Merrill prefers moist slightly acidic, well drained soil and can be situated in full sun or partial shade. This is a fully hardy variety - the flowering period in the UK is from April to May.
