This Japanese Maple is unusual in that it is the only upright variety of Acer Palmatum Dissectum. It is an imposing tree that will grow albeit quite slowly to up to 4 metres in height. The beautiful foliage starts life as a bright green, turning yellowish green with red tips as the Spring enters early Summer. During the Summer months the leaves are a very attractive shade of green but it is the Autumn when this tree puts on a stunning display.
The leaves turn to vibrant golden yellow and bronze - the tree has such a beautiful shape with multistemmed branches clearly visible below the golden canopy. As the stems age they become slightly twisted giving this tree a sculptural element.
A beautiful specimen tree that looks particularly beautiful when planted with other Dissectumns of weeping or cascading habit. The foliage appears delicate but it is fully hardy.
Acer Palmatum Dissectum Seiryu is a strong but relatively slow growing variety of Japanese Maple and for this reason it's wise to invest in the tallest tree that budget allows. We stock mature Seiryu trees at our London plant centre.
Acer Palmatum Dissectum Seiryu (the name means Blue Green Dragon) has been given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society, a sure sign that it will perform well in most UK gardens.
