A stunningly beautiful, deciduous variegated Japanese Maple known as 'Floating Clouds' because of its white foliage blushed with green and pink, it is also known as Ukigumo Nishiki.
One of the most attractive varieties of Variegated Acer. Later in the season, in Autumn, the foliage will change to a lovely green with pink tips, the colours are very subtle pastel shades and with the defined leaf formation make this one of the most delicate of the Acer Palmatum varieties. In late Autumn the leaves will become yellow to orange.
Acer Palmatum Ukigumo is relatively slow growing tree that will reach 3 metres in height and 2.5-3 metres wide at maturity. Preferring a moist well drained fertile soil, it will grow best in rich or sandy soils and does need a little protection from the heat of the afternoon sun. Variegation colours perform best in dappled shade.
Ukigumo Nishiki works beautifully as a focal point in the garden or planted with a dark back ground to create a contrast with its subtle colours.
