These Topiary Bay Trees come in half, quarter, ¾ and full standard shapes with a lollipop crown, meaning they have a straight clear stem with a spherical ball of foliage on top. This particular topiary shape is often referred to as lollipop. The type of ‘standard’ refers to the length of the clear stem – the shortest being quarter standard and the tallest being full standard.
Laurus Nobilis (or the Bay Tree) is an evergreen and high aromatic shrub or tree. Bay is fully hardy and is equally happy in sun or partial shade. These beautiful Topiary Bay Tree Lollipops are very happy to grow in containers and they look particularly elegant in terracotta planters on either side of an entrance doorway or driveway. As these ornamental topiary bay trees look great in pairs.
Maintaining the topiary shape of the crown is very straight-forward. It simply requires a trim once per year. Ideally it is best to do this in winter when the plant is dormant. As bay trees are quite slow growing, one trim per year should do the job.
