Wisteria Floribunda Sinensis or Chinese Wisteria Domino Pale Blue
Low-maintenance yet spectacularly beautiful, this clockwise-twining climber will steal the attention in any landscape. Chinese Wisteria Domino Pale Blue is a beautiful and vigorous twining climber with pendant clusters of fragrant, pale blue pea-like flowers in late spring and early summer. The trusses of blossoms are circa 20 centimetres long. The flowers are produced from May to June, but this cultivar can sometimes also produce a reduced second flowering in late summer.
While its highly-decorative appearance is reason enough to plant Wisteria Floribunda Sinensis, it is not the only reason why this deciduous cultivar is so popular. This climber has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit - a sure sign that it will perform well in most UK gardens. Also available as a pure white variety Wisteria Sinensis Alba.
Height and Spread of Wisteria Floribunda Sinensis
A fast-growing cultivar like all Wisterias, this gorgeous flowering climber can reach a maximum height of 9 metres with a spread of over 8 metres.
How Hardy is Wisteria Floribunda Sinensis
Fully hardy in the United Kingdom, this lovely Wisteria can even survive in areas where temperatures drop to 20 degrees below zero.
How To Use Wisteria Floribunda Sinensis
There is no shortage of uses for a specimen as stunning as Chinese Wisteria Domino. As a rule of thumb, Wisterias look stunning when trained over an arbour or pergola or over a front entrance. This pale blue variety is no different, as its luxurious drooping flowers are best displayed when trained against a structure.
How To Care For Wisteria Floribunda Sinensis
Chinese Wisteria Domino Pale Blue is not a demanding cultivar. It prefers full sun to partial shade, and fertile, moist but well-drained soil.
