Wisteria Floribunda New Blue Fountain is a new variety of pretty blue deciduous wisteria that has flower racemes up to 30 cms long. This climbing plant is best grown on a sunny wall or across a pergola or archway.
Wisteria Floribunda is known as the Japanese wisteria. It’s native to China, Japan and the Eastern United States and was introduced to Europe in the 1800s. New Blue Fountain was bred in Canada for its long hanging purple-blue blooms. This beautiful cultivar of wisteria produces a cascade of stunning blue blooms in spring and often a second time in summer. Each raceme measures up to 30 cms and produces a sweet fragrance that’s attractive to pollinators.
It’s a vigorous grower and will soon cover a wall with its twining climbing vines and deciduous mid-green foliage that arrives in spring. During the winter months, its foliage falls and leaves a strong trunking framework that’s perfect for fairy lights.

Water it well until established and apply a thick layer of mulch in early spring.
