Often referred to simply as Gwenllian, this is a fantastic medium-sized evergreen shrub that will provide interest in the garden when you most need it: at the end of the winter. Clusters of fragrant, starry blossoms appear in the winter months. Viburnum Tinus Gwenllian is very similar to Viburnum Tinus Eve Price but has even more vibrant dark pink flower buds that change to white flowers in spring. The small, creamy white flowers are tinged with pink and persist on the shrub well into spring, followed by metallic dark blue fruit that is attractive to wildlife.
This lovely shrub has been awarded the AGM - Award of Garden Merit by the RHS, a sure sign it will perform well in the garden. Also, as an added testament to the qualities of this evergreen shrub, it also bears the RHS Perfect for Pollinators badge, as its clusters of fragrant flowers are quite appealing to bees and other pollinators.

How To Use Viburnum Tinus Gwenllian
This shrub is perfect for creating a three tier hedge. It works well with leyland cypress or thujas at the back, then Viburnum Tinus Gwenllian forms the next tier down. Finally, another winter flowering and wonderfully scented Sarcococca Ruscifolia positioned at the front. Viburnum Gwenllian also works well on its own either as a stand-alone shrub or as a low growing hedge.
While Viburnums have plenty to offer, they do not require much in terms of care and conditions. Plant Viburnum Gwenlian in well-drained, moderately fertile soil and it will thrive. This adaptable shrub does well in any aspect - from full sun to shade.
