A relatively new and quite rare variety of Common Lilac from Russia, Syringa Vulgaris Nadezhda produces very large panicles of double blue lilac fragrant flowers opening from stunning purple buds. One of many lilac hybrids from Russia, this species has been bred to have longer lasting flowers and to bloom prolifically. The Russians, similar to the French realised the great value of Lilacs a long time ago and have been developing new breeds and varieties ever since.
Syringa Vulgaris Nadezhda has good disease resistance and is very easy to grow. As with all Syringas for the best results plant in full sun in any good soil and de-head after flower to ensure a rich crop of flowers for the next season.
Syringa Vulgaris Nadezhda is a mid-sized Lilac tree growing eventually to around 2.5 metres tall and butterflies and honey bees love it.
