Rhododendron Goldflimmer is a compact evergreen rhododendron hybrid with attractive yellow/cream stripes through the variegated leaves. This variety is a mass of pale, lavender pink flowers when in bloom. This is a mid to late flowering variety, usually around early June. Its bloom are generally long lasting, sometimes for up to a month. However, it is mainly for its foliage that this Rhododendron is most prized.
In addition to its attractive yellow and green variegated foliage, Rhododendron Goldflimmer has a compact habit. As Rhododendrons go, this is a low-growing variety and will reach a maximum of 1 metre in height over a 10 year period.

 is hardy anywhere in the UK and Ireland. In terms of aspect, Rhododendrons which originated as woodland shrubs always prefer partial shade and thrive in an acid soil.

Similar to Rhododendron Germania, Rhododendron Goldflimmer is another hybrid from Dietrich Hobbie, although from an unknown sport. It was registered in 1956. The Hobbie family run the Hobbie Rhododendron Park, which is very well known in Germany as a Rhododendron specialist.
