Photinia Red Robin Topiary Cones
Photinia Topiary Cones are beautifully structured evergreen cones that add height and colour to your garden throughout the year. Photinia is a very popular shrub and one of our best sellers. It has luscious leathery broad leaves and new shoots that emerge bright red in early spring. These gradually mature to green with a bronze tinge in autumn. In May and June small white flowers form on the tips of its branches and ripen to small black berries in August.|
Our Photinia red robin cones are clipped and trained into rounded topiary cones and are available in several sizes.
In addition we stock Photinia Red Robin Full Standard trees and Photinia red robin hedge plants, we also have Photinia Red Robin on frames for screening which are particularly useful for narrow spaces where privacy is required. We also have pleached Photinia trees.
Height And Spread of Photinia Topiary Cones
Photinia red robin is a fast-growing shrub that can put on 30 centimetres growth in a year. To keep yours in its original condition a twice-yearly trim is needed.
How Hardy Are Photinia Topiary Cones
Photinia red robin cones are hardy plants that withstand sub-zero winters if their roots are well-drained. They are rarely bothered by pests. Harsh drying winds may damage the young red foliage so a sheltered to semi-sheltered spot is best.
How To Use Photinia Topiary Cones
Coned topiary brings architectural shapes and height to a flat landscape and it looks spectacular as part of a low growing mixed border.
Evergreen Photinia red robin cones are particularly effective lining a path, screening an unsightly fence, dotted on a bare deck, or guarding either side of a front door.
They are also great for that odd spot in the garden that always looks bare. Growing them in portable containers helps to fill gaps as they appear throughout the year.
How To Care For Photinia Topiary Cones
Photinia topiary cones are easy to care for. They will need a twice-yearly trim to maintain their shape and a yearly application of mulch will ensure bright, healthy new growth. If you’re growing Photinia red robin cones in containers ensure they are well-watered throughout the year and fed during the spring months.
