Magnolia X Soulangeana Lennei

Magnolia X Soulangeana Lennei - is one of the smaller sized but spectacular Magnolias with cup shaped flowers forming on bare branches in early Spring, long before the leaves arrive.  
Magnolia X Soulangeana Lennei is sometimes known as the Saucer or Chinese Magnolia, it is most unusual in that the first showing of flowers produce dark pink buds that are almost purple in their intensity. These stunning blooms gradually change as the flower matures becoming lighter until they are eventually a pure and bright white colour.
Occasionally depending on the weather for the season - Magnolia Lennei will have a second showing in early Autumn - which though not as prolific as in Spring is none the less spectacular for the extraordinary blooms.

The Magnolia × Soulangeana hybrids are commonly known as Chinese Magnolia and are deciduous, early flowering trees. The Magnolia × Soulangeana Lennei hybrids are among the more compact of the Soulangeana hybrids. This is the one to go for if you have a smaller garden or space to fill.
