Ilex Meserveae Blue Prince Globe. Blue Holly Globe
A very attractive blue holly that is easy to grow. Lovingly and expertly trained into a ball these stunning, mature specimens are 20 years old. Adding topiary to gardens is an ancient art form going back hundreds if not thousands of years. Geometrically shaped plants juxtaposed in gardens already full of trees and shrubs is a favorite technique of garden designers creating great contrast.
Ilex Meserveae Blue Prince is a gorgeous Holly variety producing delicate white flowers in August right through to Autumn, these are then followed by bright shiny red berries that are loved by birds. An important plant for attracting birds into the garden.
It adapts well to heavy clay soil. It prefers rich fertile well draining acidic soil. Meserve Blue hollies are very hardy and very well suited to the UK climate, especially useful in a coastal location.
