Hebe Marjorie Shrubby Veronica

Hebe Marjorie or Shrubby Veronica Marjorie is a hardy evergreen shrub which will delight you with its summer blooms and provide you with reliable winter foliage as a bonus. This versatile plant can easily fit into your garden plans! Native to New Zealand, Shrubby Veronica Marjorie has several excellent characteristics to recommend it. Its glossy, narrow green leaves are lovely all year, complemented from July to September with light purple flowers which fade to white. 
Hebe Marjorie is hardy through most of the UK, although it will need winter protection in the coldest regions.  Shrubby Veronica Marjorie will grow to a maximum height of 1 metre and spread of 1.2 metres in 5 to 10 years. Once planted, it will need little care. If pruning, cut back to a stem with a pair of small leaves. 
Plant your Shrubby Veronica Marjorie in moist, well-drained soil with an alkaline to neutral ph. They do best in ground that is not too fertile. They will thrive with regular watering in dry periods. Hebe Marjorie should be planted in a sheltered position with a south, east or west aspect, in either full sun or light shade. If planted in a container, Hebe Marjorie will need protection in winter for its roots, or moved inside to a conservatory.  Tolerant to salt, Shrubby Veronica Marjorie has long been a favourite of coastal gardeners. 
With its attractive evergreen foliage, lovely flowers, and small size, Shrubby Veronica Marjorie is a great choice for container growing on a rooftop terrace, balcony, or patio, although it will require some winter protection in a cold winter. It makes a great addition to an informal mixed hedge, or tucked into the corner of a country cottage garden. Shrubby Veronica Marjorie can also be used as year-round ground cover in a damp but well-drained spot.
