The Sea Buckthorn or Hippophae species of deciduous shrubs is prized for its bright orange berries. However, not all of the varieties produce the berries, only pollinated female cultivars will boast the vibrant and decorative fruit that gardeners covet. To make sure your Sea Buckthorn plant will look its best throughout summer, autumn and winter, we combined two best-performing varieties together in one container: Hippophae Pollmix (male) and Hippophae Leikora (female). This combination ensures that the female shrub is pollinated and produces an abundance of the lovely orange berries that give the shrub its appeal.

Hippophae Leikora Pollmix combination will look good in any garden, as these two varieties have the same type of narrow, silvery leaves that resemble rosemary foliage. And since Hippophae Leikora Pollmix pair is a male and female duo, in the summer, the Hippophae Leikora shrub will produce masses of large, bright orange berries. The berries appear in the summer, following inconspicuous flowers and persist on the shrub throughout autumn and winter.

Both Hippophae Leikora and Pollmix have a moderate to fast growth rate.  Hippophae Leikora will grow to be between 4 to 8 metres when fully mature, and Hippophae Pollmix is more compact, with an ultimate size of 2 to 3 metres.

Similar to other Sea Buckthorn varieties, Hippophae Leikora Pollmix shrubs will do best in borders or planted en masse as a hedge, especially in seaside areas of the country. As these ornamental shrubs tolerate salt and strong winds quite well, they are well suited for coastal gardens.
