Fagus Sylvatica Atropunicea is commonly known as Purple Beech or Copper Beech. Atropunicea is a cultivar which retains the deep purple coloured foliage right throughout the summer season (unlike some other varieties that return to green).
This Copper Beech tree is fabulous contrast to the many variations of greenery, a deciduous tree it is great for instant screening, for above wall or fence privacy or as a specimen tree. These trees have a lovely elegant shape and are easy enough to keep in shape.
For ornamental purposes plant with other varieties of full standard trees to achieve contrasting colours. Or for a sophisticated focussed approach plant as a single species for maximum instant impact.
Growing Tip: Full sun or partial shade in well drained, fertile soil.
