Japanese Cedar Vilmoriniana is easy to grow and care for. Once it’s established it needs little if any attention.
Choose a spot in full sun or partial shade. Japanese cedar will grow in the majority of well-drained soil from neutral to acidic including chalk and clay, but it does prefer a sheltered position with full sun.
Surround it with a layer of well-rotted organic matter in spring and keep it watered until you see new growth. There’s no need to prune, but if any branches are damaged simply remove them as necessary.
