The autumn colour earned this variety its name, as Kogane Nishiki means ‘golden brocade’. The deeply lobed leaves are mid-sized and have 5 to 7 separate lobes. The leaves start fresh green in colour with distinct yellow tips that are visible only when the foliage is just emerging in the early spring. Throughout the summer, the foliage of Japanese Maple Kogane Nishiki will be maturing into a vibrant rich green, before changing colour again for the next season. Autumn is the time of the year when Japanese Maple Kogane Nishiki is at its best, standing out in the landscape with its canopy colour of molten gold.
