What Is Box Blight?
Box blight is an airborne fungal disease that causes brown leaves, bare patches and dieback on box plants. The fungal infection disrupts water transportation inside the box plant which kills its cells.  It’s become an increasing problem in the UK as our damp summers create the perfect conditions for fungal infections to thrive.

How Can Topbuxus Help?
Topbuxus is a range of products developed by a leading Dutch boxwood grower to prevent and fight box blight. The products are used in their own nursery with good results. 
The original Topbuxus Health Mix was developed when the growers realised spraying tonnes of fungicide onto their commercial box plants not only damaged the environment it came with no guarantee of prevention or cure. So together with Independent Research Institutes and the University of Wageningen they researched other ways to deal with blight instead.

Topbuxus Health-Mix  
Box blight can appear suddenly or it can creep into your garden without you realising until the infection is heavily set. Whichever is the case Topbuxus Health Mix is a curative treatment that can save your plants. Infected boxwood should be treated promptly. You will need to treat all of your box plants whether or not they are showing any signs of disease. This ensures the infection has been completely cleared. 
Topbuxus Health Mix effervescent tablets should be dissolved in water and sprayed over the foliage and stems of the whole plant rather than poured around the root system.  One tablets dissolved in a litre of clean tap water will cover 10m2. 
Wait until the fizzing has stopped before starting the application. If you have a current box blight infection apply a second dose one week later. Following these initial treatments you should spray your box with Health Mix every six weeks during the growing season. New fresh green leaves will begin to sprout on damaged branches to indicate the treatment has worked. 
Health Mix can also be used also a preventative treatment. If you are concerned about box blight, treat your plants 3-5 times from March to November applying Heath Mix as per the instructions. If the weather is wet you should repeat the treatment two weeks later. 
Use Health Mix in the early morning or late evening during hot spells, on dry plants so the treatment is fully absorbed and not washed away or dried out.  You are able to use it on damp plants but the treatment should be repeated.
