Elegance personified, these Taxus Baccata topiary domes are expertly shaped to produce a slightly flattened globe, our Yew Domes with a 1m width will be only around 60cm high. Not to be confused with the very rotund Taxus Ball topiary which are as tall as they are wide.
One of our oldest native trees, Taxus Baccata or Yew is very accommodating when it comes to shaping into the most complex shapes, so much so, it has been a primary plant for use in topiary and hedges for centuries and many of our historic country house gardens would not be complete without Yew Topiary.
Evergreen Yew trees have extremely dense foliage and will grow in just about any aspect from full sun through to full shade and are so hardy they can be grown throughout the UK with no issues. Taxus Baccata is fairly slow growing, so they just need a slight trim a couple of times a year to keep them in fantastic shape because of their slow growth we do recommend buying Yew Domes as near to the size you need for your space, as budget allows. Our specimens are a good size already and due to such slow growth, they therefore represent excellent value for money.
Taxus Domes will grow in most soil types, neutral, acid or alkaline - the main requirement is for the soil to be well drained, they are pollution and wind tolerant, so these plants are ideal for city and coastal gardens. They look very elegant when grown in containers on the patio or roof terrace, they also work well as part of a 'cloud' topiary arrangement mixed with other sizes and topiary shapes in the border. Be aware, the berries are toxic to humans but adored by wildlife.
We welcome enquiries for large quantities of these topiary Taxus Baccata Domes - please contact us with your requirements. Lots more choice in our topiary collection.
