Juniperus is a large genus of 53 species of conifer. Juniperus x Pfitzeriana are varieties of a group of similar plants derived from hybrids of Juniperus Sabina and Juniperus Chinensis.
Juniperus Pfitzeriana Mint Julep (Mint Julep Juniper) is a large broad female shrub with bowed branches and bright green, evergreen foliage. This hybrid originates from California around 1960.
These Juniper specimens are shrub shaped plants and are particularly suited to smaller gardens. Perfect for the patio, growing in pots or in borders. The vibrant colour and shap will add an architectural dimension to your planting and are especially suitable for Oriental style garden designs.
Over 10 years of growth, expect these Mint Julep Juniper shrubs to reach a size of roughly 1.5 Metres tall by 2.5 metres wide. With a naturally growing horizontal habit, Juniper Mint Julep is excellent to use for ground cover on banks and in rock gardens and will offer some protection for soil erosion as they are particularly resilient in exposed areas.
Juniper Mint Julep also lends itself well to shaping and clipping, our specimens are a good size to use for clipping into dome or globe shapes and once the shaping is achieved a once yearly clip will maintain the shape. Mint Julep Juniper is a hardy conifer.
