Miscanthus Sinensis Gracillimus is a most attractive ornamental grass with slender dark green arching leaves with a distinctive white stripe down the centre. Silky white-brown flowers that hang rather like tassels emerge in autumn, usually late September.
This is a clump forming deciduous grass and will reach a height and spread of about 1.5 metres. As ornamental grasses go, Miscanthus Sinensis Gracillimus is considered to be large.
The lovely new green foliage should start filling out around March & April time and should reach full size within a month or so.
You can plant Miscanthus Sinensis Gracillimus in mixed borders, rockeries or it can grow in a container. This grass has enough size and depth however to act as a stand-alone focal point.
Miscanthus Sinensis Gracillimus has a graceful, naturally rounded form and has a lovely soft texture. It is very elegant in terms of how it moves and looks beautiful swaying gently in the breeze.
Also called Eulalia Gracillimus or Maiden Grass, it easy to take care of and thrives in full sun and well drained but moist fertile soil. Miscanthus Sinensis Gracillimus can be cut back in winter to about 20 cm to allow the new growth for next season to emerge.
