This is one of the very first of the honeysuckle varieties to flower, a beautiful deciduous climber that has large lobed flowers in ice-cream colours, creamy-yellow then turning apricot then a rose pink as the flowers mature and become pollinated. This vigorous fragrant climber will cover a wall, trellis or archway, wonderful to grow around a door, the heady scent will drift into the house.
Honeysuckle fragrance is much stronger at night as moths are one of their most important pollinators, the scent will travel very far to entice them in, also loved by bees and birds enjoy the berries.
Lonicera Periclymenum Belgica is a classic cottage garden variety that does best in partial shade, remember these are woodland plants they prefer their roots to be in the cool shade and they will clamber up to the sunny light above with a maximum height of 6m with a circa 2m spread, they love the warmth more than full sun.
