Ligustrum Topiary Half Standard Trees - Lollipop Trees

Topiary Half Standard Ligustrum Jonandrum (Privet), topiary privet in the shape of Lollipop Trees. 

Left to its own devices, Ligustrum or Privet grows as an evergreen shrub and has dark green small glossy leaves. These particular privet plants are shaped as a standard or half standard trees with trunk heights from 80 cm upwards and a mop of foliage on top (also known as Clear Stem trees). The crown of foliage on top is shaped like a ball or globe - hence the reason why these topiary trees as often referred to as lollipop trees.

Ligustrum or Privet is often one of the first choices for Topiary because it is so easy to trim into interesting shapes and is easy to maintain. The lollipop shaped privet tree is one of our most popular topiary designs and one of the most in-demand Lollipop Trees. It is relatively slow growing apart from a growth spurt around July so it only needs a trim once or twice a year to keep it in shape.

Ligustrum as topiary is very popular in Italianate formal gardens. 
This variety of Privet produces a profusion of small white flowers with an unusual scent in the late summer.
