Juniperus Squamata is a conifer that originates from high altitudes places in Asia. It’s known for its stiff blue needles and is popularly called Flaky Juniper, Nepalese Juniper, or Himalayan Juniper. It’s a productive parent plant that’s given rise to a number of cultivars including Juniperus Squamata Blue Star and Juniperus Squamata Blue Carpet
Flaky Juniper Meyer is a medium-sized blue conifer with upright arching branches and dense, striking dark blue needles. It was found in cultivation in China in the early 1900s by American plant hunter Frank Meyer. Meyer named it after himself and brought it back to the West where it’s popular for its hardy nature and ability to fill a large space with glowing blue tones without getting too tall.
This is a great choice for Japanese style gardens, rock or gravel gardens, slopes, low maintenance areas, and that spot in the border that always looks in need of a colour boost.
