Ligustrum Japonicum Texanum Japanese Privet Hedging Shrubs
Ligustrum Japonicum Texanum is an upright variety of Japanese Privet that’s perfect for hedging. It’s also known as Waxleaf Privet. Discovered in Texas, USA hence its name ‘Texanum’, this Japanese Privet is a large-leaved compact variety with an upright growth habit. The oval leaves are waxy with a dark green surface and whiter underside. In late spring fragrant white flowers appear in pretty panicles that attract pollinators and mature into small black fruits during summer. Japanese Privet Texanum can be grown as a standard tree shape but due to their dense upright branches, they also create excellent thick hedges, windbreaks, and privacy screens.
