Hypericum is part of the Hypericaceae family that’s also known as St John’s Wort or Gold Flower. It’s native to Asia but has been grown in the UK from 1887 when it was brought back with the Victorian plant collectors.
St. John’s Wort Radiance is a new variety of hypericum. It retains the cheerful golden summer flowers, which measure 3 cms on this variety, but has young pink shoots and bushy variegated green and white foliage. As the foliage matures it turns a darker shade of green.
In warmer areas of the UK this new variety of hypericum is semi evergreen and will hold onto its bushy foliage during the winter. In other areas the foliage drops to reveal a fine framework of arching stems.
St Johns Wort is a tried and tested shrub in UK gardens and is a reliable grower. Hypericum Radiance adds texture and coloured leaves to the golden flower show.
Height And Spread of Hypericum Radiance
St Johns Wort Radiance will grow to 80 cms in height and 60 cm in spread.

How To Use Hypericum Radiance

Its small shiny yellow flowers suit cottage garden style planting and its bushy variegated foliage brings interest and texture to informal planting schemes. It’s a good choice for wildlife-friendly, low-maintenance gardens and a pretty way to cover bare spots.
Hypericum Radiance will grow in a well-watered and fed container to brighten the patio and creates compact colour in a balcony garden.
How To Care For Hypericum Radiance

It prefers full sun or partial shade in sheltered and exposed areas and doesn’t require pruning unless you want to restrict the spread.
Cut back after the flowers have fallen to shape or remove dead branches and apply a layer of mulch to the roots in early spring to boost heath, retain moisture, and block out weed competition.
