The variety Fargesia Murielae Panda is also known as Panda Bamboo. It’s a relatively new variety that occurred as a natural selection of wild bamboo seedlings. It has very lush green foliage and grows quickly at 20-30 centimetres a year. Its thick foliage forms a dense bush that hangs at the tips like an umbrella. Although it is green, the foliage, culms, stalks and leaf tips are shot through with red.
This is an excellent low-maintenance screen and ornamental non-running bamboo for borders and Japanese-style gardens.

How To Care For Fargesia Murielae Panda
Panda bamboo is easy to grow and needs little attention once it’s established.
It prefers consistently moist soil in full sun or partial shade and tolerates the majority of soil types. it will cope with an exposed spot, but brisk winds may damage its foliage. If this happens, simply cut away the damaged leaves otherwise pruning isn’t required.
A thick layer of mulch in early spring will help boost its health. Be sure to water it well until you can see new growth and then regularly during dry spells. Container-grown bamboo needs frequent water and fertiliser and should be weighed down so it doesn’t topple during strong winds.
