Cupressus Arizonica Fastigiata Pom Pom or Blue Arizona Cypress Topiary
Cupressus Arizonica Fastigiata is an intense blue-coloured conifer from North America. These topiary specimens are unusual in that they have a European-style topiary pom-pom shape. These topiary specimens have been pruned and shaped over many years into unusually striking topiary shapes which we generally refer to as topiary pompoms. The resultant Blue Arizona Cypress Topiary shaped plant makes a superb specimen standalone tree in the garden, whether planted in the ground or in a pot on the patio or terrace. Wherever you decide to put it, it is an elegant and easily maintained accent plant for your garden.
This topiary specimen comes to you already trained and shaped! You will find it surprisingly easy to maintain. This shape needs a light clipping once or twice per year. For best results, use small hand-held shears.
The Cupressus Arizonica Fastigiata Pom Pom has silvery-blue dense, fragrant foliage that remains year-round.
Hardy in most places in the UK, even in severe winters, Cupressus Arizonica Fastigiata Pom Pom will provide reliable visual interest, and will maintain its small size with regular pruning, making it suitable for even the smallest of spaces.
Plant your Blue Arizona Cypress Topiary in a sheltered position with full sun, with protection from drying winds in winter. Once established it will tolerate drier conditions. Tolerant of pollution and salt, it will do well in both city and coastal locations, and it is deer-resistant as well. Usually insect and disease-free, it will be reliably healthy.
You will want to find a special spot for this topiary conifer, where it can be seen and enjoyed throughout the year. It is an excellent container plant, perfect for including in a rooftop terrace or a courtyard, where it will provide year-round interest in those small spaces. Planted next to a doorstep, or in a patio, it will make a big statement! Towards the back of a mixed border it would work well with flowering bulbs and perennials throughout the spring, summer, and autumn, before taking on a starring role in winter. Like all conifers, especially if kept in a pot, make sure the plant is well watered throughout the year, even in the winter.
We also have Cupressus Arizonica available as topiary spirals. In this case, the variety is Cupressus Arizonica Glauca Blue Ice.
