Highly ornamental conifer with silvery blue leaves which came about as a sport from ‘Squarrosa’ and was introduced to the wider horticultural community by a US nursery back in 1934. Boulevard is easy to grow and care for and is relatively slow growing. A beautiful cypress variety with interesting bark and soft young foliage and retains a lovely natural pyramidal shape.
Blue Moss Cypress is a slow-growing evergreen conifer, with soft silvery blue-green foliage, the leaves are 5-6mm long and make a pleasing contrast against the peeling red-brown bark.
It is the recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society, a sure sign it will perform well in UK gardens.

This large and slow-growing cypress variety will eventually grow to be between 4 and 8 metres high, with a spread of 2.5 to 4 metres, over a period of 20 to 50 years.

How To Use Blue Moss Cypress - Boulevard
This evergreen shrub looks stunning in any size garden and grows well in pots. As a small slow growing Conifer in a coastal or rock garden. Edge of a woodland garden where the soil is moist and gets some sun.
How To Care For Sawara Cypress Boulevard
This Sawara or Blue Moss Cypress is easy to grow and care for. This conifer loves full sun but if exposed to strong winds the foliage can change to shades of bronze through winter, so be sure to pick a sheltered location. Preferring a lightly acidic soil, it will grow well in any moist, rich but well-drained soil. If allowed to dry out too much the inner leaves will turn bronze.
Looking its best when regularly trimmed and very easy to prune, too. Just wait till new growth then pinch green shoots in late spring or summer, then spray the foliage with water, to prevent browning of the tips of the leaves.
