Cornus Kousa Weisse Fontaine is a deciduous ornamental Chinese dogwood with pure white flower bracts in June. It’s a beautiful small tree for compact gardens and mixed informal borders.
Cornus Kousa are native to China, Japan and Korea. They are a large genus of creeping shrubs and flowering trees that enjoy a wide range of soils and suit UK gardens.
The cultivar Weisse Fontaine was bred in Holland. Its name means ‘White Fountain’ for its cascade of pure white flower bracts with small green flowerheads. Its stunning white bracts contrast nicely with its pointy green oval foliage that turns pink and gold in autumn.
If its flowerheads are pollinated, small red-pink edible fruitlets appear. These fruits look like small raspberries and are loved by birds if you don’t want them.
This is a beautiful Chinese Dogwood that’s ideal as a small specimen tree in sunny locations.

How To Care For Cornus Kousa Weisse Fontaine
Chinese Dogwood White Fountain prefers neutral to acidic soil in sheltered full sun, but it will tolerate light shade. Well-drained loam, sand or clay is suitable as it prefers roots on the drier side.
Pruning isn’t required, but you can cut away damaged or crossed branches in the dormant winter months. Apply a thick layer of well-rotted organic matter to its roots in early spring for the showiest flowers and water it well until you see new growth.
