Choisya X Dewitteana Aztec Gold
Choisya X Dewitteana Aztec Gold is a beautiful, evergreen shrub that will bring exciting colour to the garden throughout the entire season with its fine greeny-golden waxy leaves and almond-scented white star-shaped flowers that emerge in spring and early summer and then again usually in the autumn. Aztec Gold is a relatively new variety of Choisya and is a prolific bloomer. It is popular as an ornamental shrub because of its propensity to flower and its lovely sweet smelling foliage.
Also called Orange Aztec Gold or Mexican orange blossom, Choisya X Dewitteana is a fast-growing dense, compact shrub with a rounded growth habit that makes it ideal for small city gardens. It will also attract wildlife such as bees and other pollinating insects.
Choisya X Dewitteana Aztec Gold likes full sun and well drained fertile soil. However, it will still perform well in partial shade but you will get more vibrant colour and more flowers in full sun.
Choisya X Dewitteana Aztec Gold will reach a maximum height and spread of around 1 to 2 metres. Although it originated in Mexico, this plant is UK hardy unless in an extremely exposed position. It can withstand cold snaps up to minus 10 degrees.
