Buddleja Davidii Free Petite Blue Heaven is a new variety of low-growing deciduous butterfly bush with fragrant deep blue flowers all summer long. It’s a new variety with a low-growing habit that’s suitable for compact gardens and informal sunny flower borders.
Buddleja Davidii is native to Japan and central China and it was named after the botanist explorers Reverend Adam Buddle and Father Armand David. The first buddlejas were sold in Britain in the 1890s and they’ve been a butterfly-attracting staple for over a hundred years.
The cultivar Butterfly Bush Blue Heaven is a new dwarf buddleja from the United States with fragrant clusters of deep blue flowers all summer long. Its flowers bloom abundantly in blue cones and they’re loved by pollinators, especially butterflies, hence its common name Butterfly Bush. Its foliage is lance-shaped and pale green on long white-grey branches.
Buddleja Davidii Free Petite Blue Heaven is a highly decorative shrub that’s low-growing so it’s really a dwarf cultivar that’s perfect for compact, low-maintenance spaces and wildlife-friendly borders.

How To Use Buddleja Davidii Free Petite Blue Heaven
This is a tidy and compact new buddleja that suits compact borders, wildlife gardens, and low-maintenance woodland spaces. It will happily grow in a well-watered and fed plant container on a balcony to create colour and attract butterflies to urban courtyards.
How To Care For Buddleja Davidii Free Petite Blue Heaven
Butterfly Bush Blue Heaven is very easy to grow and care for. It prefers a sunny to partially sunny spot, but will flower more heavily in full sun.
Buddleja grows in the majority of soils and tolerates exposed spots. It likes chalky soil and copes well with drought. As its blue flowerheads turn brown, deadhead them to encourage new blooms.
It’s best hard pruned down to a few inches in height during March before the new growth arrives to prevent it from becoming leggy. The best flowers emerge on new season growth, so an annual prune keeps it looking good.
Container-grown buddlejas need regular water and good quality fertiliser to thrive. Be sure to prop the container on feet to ensure good drainage.
