Azalea Nuccio’s Lucky Charm is a variety of Satsuki Azalea. Satsuki Azaleas, cultivated for hundreds of years in Japan, are much celebrated evergreen azaleas with a rather dense and low growing habit. These azaleas are ideal for shaping and tend to be an important feature in Japanese Gardens, where foliage and form are just as important as beautiful flowers. This specific variety will reach a maximum height of 0.5 metres and spread of circa 1 metre and lends itself very well to shaping.
Like most Satsuki Azaleas, Azalea Nuccio’s Lucky Charm flowers in late spring / early summer, usually from May to June. It has an abundance of deep pink flowers that should last for around four weeks. It has green ovate leaves that will turn bright yellow in autumn.
Due to the changes in colour of the evergreen foliage throughout the year and the profuse deep pink flowers, Azalea Nuccio’s Lucky Charm is a charming addition to any garden. It grows beautifully in full sun or partial shade. It can be trimmed after flowering. This azalea is great performer in mixed borders or containers.
In terms of soil type, it should be acidic, moist and free-draining. Plants in the containers should be feed with an ericaceous slow release fertilizer.
These particular Azaleas have been grown in containers and have been carefully trimmed on a regular basis. As a result, these plants are a nice bushy shape and have a neat, compacted form and should produce an abundance of flowers.
We currently have 2 sizes of these Azaleas.
