This week we’re highlighting one of our most popular shrubs – Choisya’s are commonly known as Mexican Orange Blossom and Choisya Ternata has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit (AGM) and it’s not hard to see why.

These shrubs are easy to grow and are a real asset in any garden design, it’s not often you can say that a shrub can be grown happily in both sun or shade and as hardy evergreens they provide colour and interest at all times of the year.
Choisya Sundance – vibrant leaves and profuse fragrant white flowers in late Spring
Their dark, glossy green palmated leaves start life as a beautiful lime green colour in the spring, Choisya’s produce pretty sprays of white blossoms in late spring that will last for weeks and will often repeat bloom in late summer. An added bonus is that both leaves and flowers are highly fragrant, an occasional trim to keep their shape, will give a wonderful citrus smell when you prune.
Using Mexican Orange Blossom or Choisya for underplanting – a good choice for evergreen hedging
They are perfect for those areas that require low maintenance, being drought resistant, they suit city gardens or courtyards as they are extremely accommodating in terms of soil type.
Japanese Acer Bloodgood trees are underplanted with Choisya
Fabulous as a dense evergreen hedging shrub, they will help to screen out unsightly fences and grow to a neat round shape of around 2.5 metres high and wide, when fully grown.
