Acer Palmatum Shishi-gashira - Japanese Maple.  This Japanese Acer known as the lions head maple or lions head in a pot-has a bushy habit and grows upright.  Unusual dark green foliage with masses of small lobed leaves changing to a vivid orange in Autumn. when established looks really architectural.
It is extremely hardy and will withstand hard winters, slow growing it will ultimately reach 2.5 - 4 metres but this takes 25-50 years. So worth buying the largest specimen within the budget, for maximum impact.
This variety has been given the AGM Award of Garden Merit by the RHS
